FRENCH EMPIRE DESK
w/Solid Rouge' Marble Insets & Fine Tooled Leather Top 

The French Empire style was at the height of popularity during the reign of Emperor Napoleon I and the style is uniquely characterized by its motif which
makes use of adornments and mounts consisting of mythological figures and symbols brought back to France by Napoleon and his conquering armies. 
Many of the design elements used in the motif were drawn from the ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian empires.  This magnificent piece with
 its powerful design elements, classical ornamentation and brass griffins at each leg keeping their faithful watch is no different.  This stunning executive desk
 was executed of solid hardwood and is finished using only the finest of mahogany veneers which have been set in a classic chevron pattern.  It is highlighted with
the use of solid slabs of polished French Rouge marble that have been meticulously inset into both front and sides.  With exquisitely detailed Ormolu trim and
mounts of solid polished brass, the rich natural grain of the wood along with the elegant finish are brought out in all their glory.  There is plenty of storage with five generously sized drawers including one locking center drawer and four side drawers, all drawer interiors are beautifully finished.  To crown this masterfully
designed piece, high quality smooth-grained leather in a deep burgundy red with embossed gold leaf edge design was expertly inset in its top.  A stunning piece
such as this would feel right whether utilized in the library, drawing room or home office of a private residence or in a business environment guaranteed to
